Shelford show good spirit in second-half comeback to beat Hertford in Regional 1 South East encounter
Shelford got off the mark for the new Regional 1 South East season on Saturday with a come from behind 37-11 victory over Hertford.
The Peacocks, who lost their opening fixture the previous weekend at Letchworth Garden City, found themselves behind heading into the break at the Davey Field.
However, they responded after the restart with four tries to take five points from the encounter.
Two Lewis Cracknell penalties got the hosts started during the first half, yet they were still trailing 11-6 going in at half-time.
But it was all Shelford in the second half as Michael Dunnett, Euan Rees, Rob Conquest and Harry Rogerson all dotted down, while Cracknell was on target with each conversion.
Shelford will aim to make it back-to-back wins at North Walsham on Saturday (21 September).
Elsewhere in the Counties 1 Eastern Counties, Cantabrigian lost 59-26 at home to Norwich and Shelford II were beaten 53-7 by Newmarket.
On Saturday Cantabrigian will head to Colchester II and Shelford II play host to Ipswich.
