Shelford second in Regional 1 South East standings after home win against Sudbury
Shelford recorded a convincing 35-12 home victory at the expense of Sudbury at the weekend.
An impressive first-half showing from the Peacocks saw them head into the break 25 points up without reply.
Tries from Ollie Walker, Jamie Beswick and Charlie Baker put them in control, with Tom James converting two of those and also adding a couple of penalties.
Two yellow cards early in the second half saw Shelford reduced to 13 players and that allowed Sudbury to make inroads with two tries – one converted – but the home side soon got on the front foot and scored their fourth try when Louie Tang burst through then duly dispatched the conversion himself.
A penalty from Lewis Cracknell rounded off the scoring for Shelford, who sit second in the Regional 1 South East table ahead of this weekend’s break from action.
Will Cotterill’s team are next due to play on Saturday, March 4 at Medway.
