Three victories in a row at Cambs Glass Stadium

Shaun Derry was pleased with a “convincing win” as Cambridge United put Forest Green Rovers to the sword 3-0 in Sky Bet League Two on Tuesday night.

A first-half effort from Jabo Ibehre and two second-half goals from Uche Ikpeazu did the damage, and it could have been more than just three for the U’s.

The result helped banish the memory of the result at Mansfield last Saturday, when United played well only to lose 2-1.

“I thought it was a convincing victory for us tonight,” said U’s head coach Derry.

“Leading into the game, especially after the result disappointment of Saturday and the way Mansfield got the goal and put us on the back foot for the last 10 minutes, we took a little bit of anger into the game.

“We wanted to start quickly and we wanted to put a team who are struggling this season on the back foot, and I thought we did that.

“If I’ve got a gripe, it would be that we didn’t put them to the sword earlier on in the game. But it’s played over 90 minutes and you have to take your chances when they come.

“I thought we created a number of chances in the second half and were a little bit more dominant with the way we executed them.

“I thought it was a convincing win for us.”
