Histon score six goals without reply during home victory over Rugby Borough

Recently-appointed Chris Nunn racked up his third straight victory as Histon manager with Saturday’s 6-0 home demolition of Rugby Borough.

In front of a crowd of 229 at Bridge Road, the hosting Stutes ran riot against their visitors that started the afternoon in mid-table.

Histon were three goals to the good at the break courtesy of efforts from Danny Gould and Luke Crisp, while a Rugby defender also put through his own net.

After the restart Connor Barnes weighed in with a double alongside a goal from recent addition Lene Burden and a Sam Roach penalty save.

Speaking on the club’s X feed, Nunn said: “Yesterday was such a great day on and off the pitch. The supporters were fantastic again and the players responded to them which was great to see.

“Three wins on spin at any level is good and we can enjoy the feeling for a day or two.”

Histon, who have moved up to 16th in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South standings, will look to post a fourth win in a row on Saturday (November 18) when they travel to face second-placed Racing Club Warwick.

The hosts have lost just three times this term and have the joint best defensive record in the division alongside March Town United and St Neots Town.

Meanwhile, Histon have been drawn at home against March in the quarter-finals of the Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup on December 5.
