Skipper Danny Richards darts in for hat-trick as Cantabrigian defeat Crusaders in London League
Captain Danny Richards claimed a third successive hat-trick as Cantabrigian moved to within one point of West Norfolk at the top of the London 3 Eastern Counties Division after a 64-5 win at Crusaders.
The Norfolk side had not won in their past three games played in 2020, shipping 183 points in the process.
It was Richards who scored the opening two tries for Cantabs, with Finlay Laing converting both.
After Drew Tilley got the third touch down, the away side secured their bonus point when Adam Fastnedge passed to Francois Eve who crossed the line for Cantabs’ fourth try of the afternoon.
Crusaders did get one back before the break but went in at half time trailing 24-5.
Cantabs continued to dominate after half time with the hosts becoming stretched as the match wore on. Ben Tozer, Finley Laing, Finn Morrison and Jos Crush extended the lead beyond any doubt before Richards ran from his own half to score the last try of the game.
That try completed a hat-trick of hat-tricks for the Cantabs skipper, who also scored three against both Ipswich YM and Wisbech.
Cantabs travel to Beccles this Saturday (February 8).
