Cambridge South II move up to second with East League victory over Cambridge University III
Cambridge South II took full advantage of most of the teams in the East Women’s Leagues having a slip weekend by chalking up a 5-0 home win over Cambridge University III on Saturday.
The one-sided victory, which saw Caitlin Fisher score twice, has moved South up to second in the Division 2 North West standings.
The hosts raced out of the traps and were soon two goals to the good courtesy of Izzy Parsley, who forced the ball in following a scramble, before Fisher finished off after an individual run from Jess Foord. Captain Rebecca Frith made it 3-0 during the opening exchanges of the second half to all but end any hopes the students had of mounting a comeback.
Fisher flicked home South’s fourth goal of the contest before the scoring was completed by Foord, who fired in on the turn.
However, it was not such a positive afternoon for Cambridge South V in the East Women’s League Division 4 North West as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Cambridge University IV.
Lauren Osborne-Patterson scored during the first half to give the students a slender advantage heading into the break before Harriet Robinson contributed a second-half brace to propel her side to the top of the table.
