Cambridge City sign former Brentford midfielder Aaron Greene from Bishop’s Stortford

Aaron Greene has become the latest new addition at Cambridge City.

The midfielder has joined the Lilywhites from relegated Vanarama National League North outfit Bishop’s Stortford – where he picked up the Manager’s Player of the Year award last term.

The 29-year-old made a total of 102 appearances in Stortford’s colours, scoring 11 goals in the process.

Greene was previously on the books at Premier League side Brentford and also counts the likes of Boston United, Chelmsford City, AFC Sudbury and Enfield among his list of former clubs.

News of Greene’s arrival has followed the signing of Alfie Mason, who was announced as a City player over the weekend.

The left wing-back, who has turned out for Stortford and Enfield, made 31 appearances for City’s Pitching In Isthmian League North Division rivals Maldon & Tiptree last term.

Meanwhile, at the weekend Jamie Cureton’s new-look City team kicked off their batch of pre-season friendlies with a 3-1 win over Southend United Under-23s at Sawston. New signing Shane Temple was among the scorers in the behind-closed-doors encounters.

City will also be in action tonight – again behind closed doors – with a clash against lower-league Ely City.
