Histon end Newport Pagnell Town’s winning run of home form in Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division South

Histon became the first team to pick up a positive result at Newport Pagnell Town yesterday afternoon.

The hosting Swans had made a perfect start to this season at their Willen Road base, racking up nine straight Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division South victories, from which they had scored 21 goals.

However, the visiting Stutes ended that sequence courtesy of a 3-1 victory – and in doing so halted their run of three league games without a victory.

An close-range effort from Ed Rolph and an own goal had Chris Nunn’s men 2-0 up at the break in Buckinghamshire.

Hosting Pagnell ramped up the pressure in the second half and they halved the deficit just after the hour mark through Kai O’Keeffe’s header.

The home side continued to push forward in search of an equaliser, but 16th-placed Histon secured the points in stoppage time thanks to Danny Gould’s penalty.

Responding to a post on the club’s X feed, boss Nunn said: “Thank you for the kind comments, but this isn’t about me. The management team got it bang on, however the players did the job. Now they have to repeat it, that’s the hard job.”

Histon’s focus will now switch to Boxing Day when they play host to Godmanchester Rovers at Bridge Road in a 1pm kick off.

Jake Kerins and Jim Burnside will miss the game as they serve the final match of their suspensions, but new signing David Pepple is set to feature. The right-back, who made his debut on Saturday, has joined Histon on dual registration terms for Stamford.
