Histon move quickly to replace Sam Roach with signing of former Cambridge United trainee George Whitehall from Lakenheath
Histon manager Chris Nunn has moved quickly to replace outgoing goalkeeper Sam Roach.
It was announced on Sunday that the long-serving Roach, who made almost 260 appearances during nine seasons with the Stutes, had departed the club with immediate effect.
And Nunn has wasted little time in filling the void between the posts with the arrival of George Whitehall.
The 21-year-old has become the third player from Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Lakenheath to make the switch to Bridge Road in recent months after Karl Saffery and Luke Young.
Prior to joining Lakenheath at the start of the current campaign, Whitehall was a scholar at Cambridge United, during which time he had loan stints with St Neots Town and Godmanchester Rovers.
Last term Whitehall had spells on the books of AFC Sudbury and Kempston Rovers.
The shot stopper is in line to make his Histon debut during tomorrow night’s home GCE Hire Fleet United Counties Football League Premier Division South encounter against Yaxley.
