Histon pegged back during second half of trip to Rugby Borough

Histon halted a sequence of back-to-back defeats in the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South thanks to Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Rugby Borough.

The Stutes defeated their hosts 6-0 in last month’s reverse fixture and when Lene Burden’s penalty sent them into half-time in the ascendancy, they will have fancied their chances of completing a double.

However, the visitors responded after the restart and they earned themselves a point thanks to Ethan Flaig’s equaliser.

Boss Chris Nunn said: “No doubt in my mind we deserved to be in front at half-time, but we lost our way for the first 20 minutes of the second half. We then found ourselves again and gave everything to try and get the win.

“I felt we deserved win but Rugby may well feel the same. A point on the road is always welcome.”

Histon will travel to Newport Pagnell Town on Saturday (December 23) and then host Godmanchester Rovers on Boxing Day.
