Histon pick up all three points against Daventry Town thanks to goals from Tom Binder and Pharrell Anderson
Histon bounced back from their midweek defeat with a 2-0 win at Daventry Town yesterday afternoon.
The Stutes, who are in the midst of a run of six games in 18 days, suffered a 3-1 loss against St Neots Town on Tuesday evening.
However, Chris Nunn’s men showed good powers of recovery against a Daventry side that currently occupy one of the United Counties League Premier Division South play-off places.
Visiting Histon took a one-goal advantage into the break courtesy of Tom Binder, who stooped in the 22nd minute to head in Luke Young’s cross.
And the points were made safe eight minutes from time when substitute Pharrell Anderson opened his goalscoring account in a Histon shirt.
The victory – their fourth in the league this term – has moved Histon up to ninth in the standings, six points outside of the play-offs with at least one game in hand on many of the sides above them.
Histon’s hectic spell continues on Tuesday (15 October) when they travel to face the side directly above them in eighth – Yaxley.
When the two teams met in the reverse fixture last month they shared eight goals evenly in a 4-4 draw at Bridge Road.
And after travelling up the A14 to Yaxley, Histon will hit the road again next Saturday (19 October) to take on Great Yarmouth Town in the FA Vase.
