Histon unveil plans to celebrate International Women’s Day during home league game against Lutterworth Town
Histon will celebrate International Women’s Day during their home encounter against Lutterworth Town on Saturday (9 March).
Women and girls will be charged half price to attend the Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South encounter, with further activities to be announced in due course.
A statement from Histon read: “In recognition of International Women’s Day on 8 March, Histon FC will be celebrating the role played by women at our football club and in the wider Histon and Impington community at our game against Lutterworth Town.
“The aim of the IWD 2024 campaign is to forge a more inclusive world for women, which is an objective we share at our club through the operation of our two women’s teams competing at county and regional league level.
“We will therefore also be honouring the involvement of the female volunteers and supporters who play an important part in creating an inclusive and safe environment at our home games.
“Please put the date in your diary and join us on to be part of a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to equality. We would particularly love to see as many girls from both villages and their families as possible on the day at the club.”
The match will see Histon back in action after last weekend’s scheduled home clash with Bugbrooke St Michaels was postponed because of a waterlogged playing surface at Bridge Road. That fixture has now been rearranged to take place on Tuesday, 19 March.
