Syed Obaid Hasmhi hits half-century as Cambourne defeat Eaton Socon II

Syed Obaid Hashmi plundered a half-century as Cambourne earned a seven-wicket win over Eaton Socon II in the Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division Three.

Eaton Socon won the toss and elected to bat first, but could never get going.

The top performer was opener Daniel Wood, who struck 29, but Eaton Socon were all out for 125.

Elliot James led the way with the ball with three for 26, while Salar Baig, Joban Singh and Temoor Khan took two wickets apiece.

After losing Rumman Hasan early, Khan (29) steadied affairs with Hashmi, who went on to make an unbeaten 58 in a 63-run third-wicket partnership with Willow White (14) as Cambourne got home inside 34 overs.

Ed Manning propelled Burwell & Exning to a 36-run win over Godmanchester Town.

Simon Allen, who has started the season in good form for Burwell & Exning, helped them set a stern target with 57 at the top of the order as the hosts made 174 for 7 in 45 overs.

No 6 Paul Swannell led the charge for Godmanchester with 51, but they were all out for 137.

Manning finished with four for 19 off three overs, while Charlie Sorenson took three for 14 off five overs.

Ant Phillips’ half-century proved crucial for Sawston & Babraham II in a 25-run success over Castor & Ailsworth in Division Two.

He hit 74 not out and Marc Pearson weighed in with 35 as Sawston & Babraham finished on 214 for 9.

Chris Dixon took three for 34 and Nick Griggs, Phillips and Steven Atherton got two each as Castor & Ailsworth were all out for 189.

Foxton Granta II lost by 177 runs to Offord Park.

Charlie Agnew (110) and Andy Larkin (97) helped Offord post a target of 356 for 6.

Jason Coleman (74) and Freddie Kerr-Dineen tried in vain for Granta, who were dismissed for 179.
