Teddy Hall will be the flag bearer for the British Junior Golf Tour team at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships in July.

The 14-year-old Link’s Newmarket Golf Club player was one of seven from Cambridgeshire golf clubs to qualify for the tournament in San Diego, California.

The British Junior Golf Tour has been taking players to the event for 13 years as the only official qualifying organisation for a competition that was previously known as the Callaway Junior World Championships.

Qualifiers were held at a range of different venues for the respective age groups.

Cambridge Meridian’s Marcus Karim and Luca Randall qualified from the six & under division and nine to 10 divisions respectively, Bourn’s Lila-Belle Nacca was also successful in the nine to 10 division and Bourn’s Oliver Toyer made it through in the 11 to 12 division.

Tyler Weaver progressed in the 13 to 14 division and Saffron Walden’s William McKernan had success in the 13 to 14 division.

Bottisham-based Hall was successful in the 15 to 18 division, carding plus one off the white tees at Maylands Golf Club to win by four strokes, leading to him being chosen as the flag bearer for the UK team.

Karim, Toyer and McKernan have also confirmed they will be taking up their places in the British Junior Golf Tour team to compete in San Diego.

The British Junior Golf Tour returns to Cambridgeshire for its first Order of Merit tournament of the season at Bourn on May 5.
