The Perse School march on in Investec English Schools Championships
East finals beckon for under-14s
May Busher’s goal helped The Perse School girls’ under-14 hockey team reach the East finals of the Investec English Schools Championships.
In their regional round tournament in Bedford, they opened their account with a 2-0 win over Haileybury thanks to goals from Bella Howarth and Busher.
They next faced The King’s School, Canterbury, but lost 2-1, with Busher scoring their goal.
A 3-0 win over Bedford Girls’ School, with Busher scoring twice and Holly Smith getting one, saw them reach the play-offs as group runners-up.
Their opponents in the play-offs were Framlingham College, and it was a close-fought game with both sides creating opportunities and The Perse defending well against some fast attacking play.
Busher’s goal proved decisive in a 1-0 win and earned them a place in the regional finals at Redbridge on November 22.
