Six matches unbeaten saw The Perse School girls’ under-12s hockey team crowned Cambridgeshire Schools’ champions.

It was an impressive display at Wilberforce Road, as the team followed in the footsteps of the Perse’s under-14s side.

They started with a 0-0 draw against the Stephen Perse Foundation.

Ianthe Carr and Rosabel Clarke were then on target in a 2-0 win over St Faith’s School, and that was followed by a 3-0 victory over King’s Ely, when Willow Wallman scored twice and Verity Valentine got one.

Valentine and Carr hit the target in a 2-0 win over Joyce Frankland Academy Newport.

There were two more 2-0 wins, when Isabel Fleming and Carr scored against Saffron Walden County High School, and Carr and Valentine struck against Kimbolton School.

It meant they earned five wins from six matches to take the title and progress to the regional finals on November 6.
