Thomas Keen has gone to the top of the European under-20 rankings after his performance at the Loughborough International.
The 17-year-old Cambridge & Coleridge Athletic Club member clocked 8min 14sec to finish sixth in a competitive 3,000m to take him to the top of the list
Scottish athlete Sol Sweeney won the race in 8.06, with fellow C&C runner Kieran Wood second in 8.11.
Julia Paternain, also of C&C, was competing for England at the event.
The under-20 athlete, who is bound for Penn State University on an athletic scholarship this summer, was fifth in the women’s 3,000m, with Great Britain Olympian Jess Judd winning the race.
