Peter Richer has been named in the Marylebone Cricket Club squad to tour Sierra Leone.

The Thriplow batsman is part of a 13-man squad for the first MCC tour to the African country since 2003, which starts this Saturday (November 30).

They will play three 50-over and four T20 matches, and take coaching sessions with local youngsters.

Gus Kennedy, who has represented both Cambridge and Oxford Universities in first-class cricket, will captain the squad.

Tour manager Jamie Clifford said: “Overseas tours are extremely important for our club. Using MCC’s global reach, they continue our commitment to developing the game in areas of the world where the sport is less popular.

“Our relationships with nations such as Sierra Leone form an important part of developing talent around the globe and we are keen to ensure the tour is a success, inspiring local and touring cricketers alike.”
