Histon bring Rob Ruddy back to Bridge Road after spells with Mildenhall Town, Newmarket Town and Godmanchester Rovers
Histon have re-signed one of their Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title winners from the 2018/19 season.
Rob Ruddy, who made 78 appearances for the Stutes between 2017 and 2020, is back at Bridge Road following recent stints with Mildenhall Town, Newmarket Town and fellow United Counties Football League Premier Division South outfit Godmanchester Rovers.
Speaking to the club’s website about his decision to return to the club, the centre-back said: “Although I had kept in contact with Keysey over the past few years, a return to Histon had never been on the cards. However, when the club recently got in touch I just felt the time was right to return.
“I’m a family man at heart and my family mean everything to me. My fiancée and kids love the club, it’s very local to us and as well as a fantastic set up, group of players and management team, the club meet all my ambitions.
“For any club I play for my aspirations never change and that is to win as many games as possible. Everyone associated with Histon knows what they want to achieve this season and with the mix of young, talented and experienced players we have a great chance of doing that. I’m just chuffed to bits to have another opportunity to wear a Histon shirt again.”
Meanwhile, manager Lance Key added: “Rob will bring us a huge amount of experience to our backline, a committed defender who will most certainly bring another edge to our side.
“Rob has obviously won the Eastern Counties League with us and we hope that he will again bring us that never say die attitude which will rub off on others. He is a true leader and someone we are delighted to welcome back to help with our push this season for the play-offs.”
