Tough week for Histon in BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division

Histon have endured a difficult week in the BetVictor Isthmian League, North Division.

It started with a 5-0 defeat to AFC Sudbury on New Year's Day.

Next up was Basildon United at home last Saturday, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

Danny Gould gave them the lead after 19 minutes, but Adam Vyse equalised for Basildon after 34 minutes.

Lee Smith put Histon 2-1 ahead, and Ed Rolph made it 3-1 not long into the second half. But Basildon responded, with Jimmy Cox pulling a goal back just before the hour.

With five minutes remaining, Vyse made it 3-3 before Basildon had a player sent off in a fractious finale.

But it got worse last night (Tuesday) as they suffered a 5-1 defeat in a rearranged game at Coggeshall, with Rolph getting their goal.

Histon are away to Brentwood Town this Saturday (January 11).

Chris Regis scored for Cambridge City in a 2-1 defeat to Bury Town on January 1, while their match at Hullbridge Sports last Saturday was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. City host Romford this Saturday.
