Triathlon festival to be held at Milton Country Park
A triathlon festival is to be held at Milton Country Park this summer.
Cambridge Sport Lakes Triathlon Festival will take place on Saturday, August 20 with sprint, super sprint and standard-distance events.
The event is being run by HaverSports in aid of the Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust, with the range of distances aimed at attracting a range of competitors, from first timers to the experienced.
HaverSports director Jack Tappin said: “Milton Country Park is a lovely venue on the doorstep of Cambridge, so we hope that the city’s thriving athletics scene will see a well-supported event that can encourage people to keep fit while supporting local good causes.
“It’s been a difficult few years for events with Covid restrictions preventing people from participating, so we hope people will now take confidence and take part, either as a triathlete or a volunteer, and that businesses will want to support us in bringing triathlon to Cambridge.”
Milton Country Park executive director Mick Woolhouse added: “We regularly host open water swimming evenings in our lake and have held a number of small events, so it’s exciting to play host to a triathlon weekend in the park.”
The races will be licensed by the British Triathlon Federation and chip timed, with medals for all finishers.
