Cambridge United head coach Neil Harris reveals club are ‘close’ to making first January transfer window signing
Neil Harris has revealed that Cambridge United are ‘close’ to bringing in a new signing.
The U’s head coach has made no secret of his desire to add to his squad during this month’s transfer window, particularly in the attacking part of the pitch.
Any new addition will need to have signed all of the necessary paperwork by 12pm on Friday to be able to feature against Fleetwood Town at the weekend and while Harris is unsure if that deadline will be met, he is hopeful that the club will have some positive news in the near future.
He said: “Last thing I did was just check my phone, which gives you a bit of an indication that we might be a bit closer.
“We are trying to add and we are close to adding somebody. Obviously the deadline is 12pm Friday (to play against Fleetwood) so that might become a race against time.
“Again, I can’t ask for any more support from the board and let’s see what the next 24 hours bring.
“I won’t comment on individual players or positions but I’ve been very clear on saying we know we’re short, where we need to add and we hope that we get to add to the ranks this weekend.”
