Norwich City recall Chile international goalkeeper Vicente Reyes from Cambridge United loan spell
Cambridge United goalkeeper Vicente Reyes has returned to his parent club Norwich City.
The 21-year-old Chilean, who earned his first senior international call-up in October, joined the U’s during the summer and quickly established himself as head coach Garry Monk’s number one option between the posts.
Reyes made a total of 23 appearances – keeping five clean sheets – but he lost his place to Jack Stevens after making a couple of mistakes in the 2-1 defeat at Charlton Athletic on Boxing Day.
And that outing has proven to be Reyes’ final appearance for United after Norwich opted to exercise the recall option in his loan deal.
Reyes may not be the only loan player to depart Cambridge this month, with sporting director Ben Strang having recently admitted that others could also head back to their respective parent clubs.
Connor O’Riordan, Dan Nlundulu, Taylor Richards, Emmanuel Longelo and Josh Stokes are the current loan players on the club’s books.
