Cambridge United forward Dan Nlundulu out for ‘eight to 10 weeks’ with hamstring injury picked up against Bristol Rovers
Dan Nlundulu has joined the seemingly never-ending injury catalogue at Cambridge United.
The striker, who is on loan with the U’s from Bolton Wanderers, is expected to spend the next ‘eight to 10 weeks’ on the sidelines with the hamstring problem that he picked up during the 1-0 defeat to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
Nlundulu joins the likes of Sullay Kaikai, Shayne Lavery, Paul Digby, James Gibbons, George Thomas, Gary Gardner and Mamadou Jobe on the list of players currently unavailable to head coach Garry Monk.
The U’s head coach said: “Unfortunately Dan has suffered an injury that is going to keep him out for around eight to 10 weeks.
“Of course that’s a huge blow and it’s an area we’re trying to fast track (a new signing) but it has to be the right player.
“To lose Shayne (Lavery) and Dan in quite close proximity is tough, but there’s no excuses for us. I make sure there’s a no excuse culture, but of course it’s difficult. We don’t want to use it as an excuse, we have to use it as motivation.”
In slightly more positive news, centre-back Jubril Okedina’s ankle injury is not as bad as first feared.
The 24-year-old will miss this weekend’s trip to Blackpool but is likely to be back into contention for the following Saturday’s encounter away at Bolton Wanderers.
