Cambridge United complete signing of former Charlton Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City and Wigan Athletic midfielder Jordan Cousins.
Jordan Cousins has become Cambridge United’s fourth signing of the summer.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who has agreed a 12-month deal, arrives at the Abbey Stadium with a wealth of EFL Championship experience.
After starting out at Charlton Athletic, Cousins went on to play for Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City and most recently Wigan Athletic, racking up more than 200 appearances in English football’s second tier along the way.
Upon joining United on a free transfer following his departure from Wigan at the end of last season, the one-capped Jamaica international said: “I am delighted to have it done and to be in the building.
“I got a feeling (from my initial meeting) around the place, meeting the manager and seeing things that this is the right club for me.
“I just want to get amongst it now and embed myself into the team. I am ready to go and get stuck in.”
U’s head coach Mark Bonner added: “Jordan is an excellent signing, and brings with him bags of experience at Championship level and winning experience in League One. He reads the game superbly, is tactically wise, powerful and will help us greatly.
"I am really looking forward to working with him and seeing the benefit he can bring to the team. He is another along the line of additions we have made since January to give us strength, maturity and game understanding which will benefit us throughout the season."
Cousins could feature alongside other new additions Jack Stevens, Danny Andrew and Gassan Ahadme during Saturday’s friendly at non-league St Albans City.
