Cambridge United loan out Saikou Janneh to Sky Bet League Two side AFC Wimbledon

Saikou Janneh has joined AFC Wimbledon on a loan deal until the end of the campaign.

The 23-year-old joined Cambridge United in the summer after four seasons with Bristol City, but he has so far found starting opportunities hard to come by. Of his 10 Sky Bet League One appearances for the U’s, just one of those has come from the start.

And now he will link up with Sky Bet League Two outfit Wimbledon ahead of their clash against Stockport County at the weekend.

“This is an excellent opportunity for Saikou to gain valuable game time,” said United head coach Mark Bonner.

“As is often the case with many younger players, the importance of regular games is integral to their development. We believe this is the right opportunity for him to find his game rhythm and have a successful second half of the season before returning to us in the summer, better for the experience.

“AFC Wimbledon are a good fit for Saikou and we are confident it will benefit all parties.”

Janneh has featured on 17 occasions across all competitions for United, scoring one goal.
