Mixed fortunes for Nomads and South
Mixed fortunes for Nomads and South

Will Dyer was on form for Cambridge Nomads III as they beat St Ives V in East Men’s League, Division 6NW (S).

Dyer’s treble, two from Jez Cotton and one each from Dan Stevenson, Chris Snow, Garth Hanlon and Sydney Gwindi sealed the 9-0 win.

Nomads II bounced back from going a goal down to beat Spalding II in 4NW.

Spalding scored in the first half but, after the break, Angus Gowland equalised and Ellis Maloney got the winner with five minutes remaining.

Cambridge South V were undone by three second-half goals in a 5-1 defeat to leaders Kettering III in 6NW (S).

South had some attacking joy in the first few minutes, but the hosts soon got on top to threaten Mike Gillingham’s goal.

After a string of saves, he was finally beaten twice in the first half, but South replied when Jason James finished off a penalty corner with a drag flick.

Kettering’s experience and fitness helped them pull clear in the second half with three goals from open play, as man-of-the-match Gillingham and his defence proved unbeatable at penalty corners.
