Youngsters take up the challenge of the South Cambs School Sports Partnership Year 5/6 Quicksticks Hockey event
Bourn and Willingham will go forward to bid to represent South Cambs School Sports Partnership at the County School Games finals after their progress in the third Quicksticks hockey competition (March 11) of the year.
Thirteen schools took to the pitches at Cambourne Village College, and the 24 sides were organised so the A teams played in a cup competition and the B and C teams in the plate competition, with matches organised in a round-robin format.
Sports leaders from Cambourne Village College ran the matches, which ended with Bourn and Willingham, who had five wins from five games, the winning schools in the A competition.
In the plate category, Bourn B also went unbeaten and Willingham B also won five out of five.
Monkfield Park A won the Spirit of the Games award for demonstrating good teamwork and honesty in their performances.
Bourn A and Willingham A qualify for the South Cambs finals on May 4 to face the winners from the previous two events,looking to represent the district at the Cambs & Peterborough School Games Summer Festival againstschools from Cambridge, East Cambs & Fenland, Huntingdonshire and Peterborough.
