Zac Barrett returns as Cambridge City goalkeeping coach

Former No 1 returns to Lilywhites

Zac Barrett is making his way back to Cambridge City as goalkeeping coach.

The former No 1 left the Lilywhites last summer after eight years and more than 350 appearances to join Hitchin.

A knee injury restricted his appearances, and it has subsequently halted his playing career.

But now that Barrett has fully qualified as a goalkeeping coach, City manager Robbie Nightingale has brought him in to a backroom staff that includes David Theobald and Neil Midgley.

“I am really pleased to have Zac as part of the staff at Cambridge City,” said Nightingale. “The club means a lot to him and I am sure supporters will be thrilled to see someone who is held in such high regard return to the club.

“I know he can’t wait to get started and I feel that his experience will be invaluable when it comes to working with goalkeepers across all levels at the club.”
