70 stalls due at South Cambridgeshire’s indoor Christmas market in Cambourne

A free indoor market of 70 stalls is set to bring Yuletide cheer to South Cambridgeshire. Between 11am and 3pm this Sunday (December 11), local independent business stalls will offer an array of products such as artisan crafts, edible gifts, artwork, handmade items and floristry. A selection of mobile caterers will also be found just outside the venue.

The market is organised by South Cambridgeshire District Council. Cllr Peter McDonald, lead cabinet member for economic development, said: “We are thrilled to be able to give local traders a chance to showcase their businesses to the public through our upcoming Christmas Market.

“We are committed to helping our local businesses and economies to grow as we recognise how important local businesses are to our high streets and communities. We hope our market will be a fun and festive day out, enjoyed by all on the countdown to Christmas.”

To prevent congestion on the day of the event, parking will not be permitted along Sheepfold Lane or on the approach to Cambourne Village College. Visitors are being encouraged to walk or cycle, however, if visitors do need to drive, parking is available at Cambourne Village College or at designated overflow parking at Cambourne Business Park.

Last year’s event had to be cancelled after the gazebos were destroyed by wind overnight and the weather left the ground too slippery. This won’t be a problem this year as the market has been moved indoors.
