Art-rock musical ‘Outside of Time... Magical Music from The Dreamery’ on its way to Cambridge

San Francisco’s art-pop singer-songwriter Nymphya and Rose Thorn, from Brighton, are bringing their art-rock musical collaboration Outside of Time... Magical Music from The Dreamery to Cambridge later this month.

The show, part of the production’s debut UK tour, features a four-piece band and engages audiences through original compositions and one or two covers, with stories depicting loss, magic, and discovery.

It also reveals the personal worlds of these two artists, who span different continents, cultures and generations, encouraging audiences to discover their own feelings.

Nymphya, a former singer with the New York City Opera and the San Francisco Opera, has performed with John Cale of the Velvet Underground on America’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and has also supported Todd Rundgren and George Benson.

She penned and illustrated a coffee table book to accompany her most recent solo album What Have I Forgotten?, which was released in August 2023 and streamed nearly 200,000 times.

Rose Thorn emerged on the Brighton music scene three years ago, drawing audiences with her songwriting and pure vocal delivery.

Nymphya said: “We are so excited to play at the famous Cambridge Junction venue; it is an honour to perform in such a globally-renowned and respected city of learning and invention.”

Outside of Time... Magical Music from The Dreamery, which combines live music and elements of spoken word – it features original material as well as covers of songs by Kate Bush and Alanis Morissette – is coming to the Cambridge Junction (J3) on Sunday, 29 September.
