Ben Elton and Dame Emma Thompson present book talk at Ely Cathedral




Screenwriter, author, comedian, director, lyricist, playwright and occasional actor Ben Elton came to Ely Cathedral last Tuesday (7 October) to discuss his new memoir, What Have I Done?: My Autobiography, with his great friend, actress Dame Emma Thompson.

“I waited quite a long time to write it – most people seem to start doing their biographies when they’re about 30 and publish a few over the years,” Ben, 66, recently told the Cambridge Independent.

“But I’ve waited until I’ve lived certainly the majority of my life before having a go at it.”

Ben was interviewed on stage at the cathedral by Dame Emma before a packed audience.
