‘Best burgers in Cambridgeshire’ Higgsy’s coming to the University Arms Hotel
The University Arms Hotel is to collaborate with Cambridgeshire burger restaurant, Higgsy’s, who will be bringing a touch of the American Deep South to the city later this month for a two-day pop-up.
The Peterborough-based burger shack, located in a lay-by between Yaxley and the A1, was awarded ‘Best Burger in Cambridgeshire’ last year, having only started trading in November, 2022.
They will be selling their burgers from a van outside the University Arms Hotel for two days over the bank holiday weekend (Sunday, 26 May-Monday, 27 May).
Adam Miller, co-owner of Higgsy’s with his partner Amber Higgs, said: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing Higgsy’s - and the Burgers voted as The Best in Cambridgeshire - to the heart of Cambridge for the first time.
“The collaboration with the fantastic team at Parker’s Tavern will be a great opportunity for us to showcase what we do best… make incredible burgers that keep people coming back for more.
“Our infamous Redneck burger is going to take the city by storm, just like it has locally since we opened our hatch for the first time in 2022. We are buzzing to see everyone. And remember, nobody comes just once!”
On where the name came from, Adam - a fellow country music fan - continued: “Amber’s surname is Higgs, and her dad died a couple of years ago and he was known as ‘Higgsy’.
“So when I was on Companies House thinking ‘What do we call this place?’ I thought it would be a nice tribute - but actually it ties in quite well with the branding.
“It sounds like the kind of place we wanted our business to be. But first and foremost it was kind of a nod of the head to him.”
For those unable to make it to the pop-up, the Higgsy’s burger will also be available as part of the menu at Parker’s Tavern restaurant for one week only – from Tuesday, 28 May, until Sunday, 2 June.
