Big Deal Comedy’s charity fundraiser for the Cambridge Women’s Resources Centre raises more than £700
Cambridge-based comedy club Big Deal Comedy hosted a charity fundraiser last Saturday (July 15) at the Meadows Community Centre on Arbury Road in Cambridge for the Cambridge Women's Resources Centre (CWRC) to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
On the bill were compere Jason Stampe, Stephanie Laing, Aaron Jay and headlining was Harriet Kemsley, whose husband Bobby Mair is also a stand-up comedian.
Big Deal Comedy founder Leanne Clarke told the Cambridge Independent that around 80 people attended on the night and that the total raised was £710.
She said: “It went really well; at the start of the week we were slightly lower on the numbers – mainly because it’s summer and everybody’s enjoying the sunshine – so we were really happy to get a full room.
“All the feedback from the audience was really positive, the charity was really happy with the amount that we raised, and the venue was really happy with the way it went – because it was one of the first events they’d put on since they opened about 11 weeks ago. So good news all round.”
