Big Deal Comedy to run two monthly shows at Town and Gown in Cambridge

Big Deal Comedy, a successful and award-winning monthly comedy show at Town and Gown in Cambridge, is increasing to two nights a month, due to popular demand.

Organised by Leanne Clarke and her brother Jason, the comedy night has been running for five years and this month is set to take place this Friday (May 12) and Friday, May 26.

The MC for the night on May 12 is Jason Stampe, the main face behind Big Deal Comedy, and most recently British comedian of the year semi-finalist 2022 and a Comedy Store King Gong winner.

Described by Reginald D Hunter as “One of the best MCs I’ve worked with”, Jason delivers a blend of jokes and crowd interaction that will leave you feeling he must have planned the whole thing out. Rest assured, anything can - and will - happen, and Jason will be there to make it funny.

Also appearing is Steph Laing, who is best described as goofy and peculiar, and her comedy is part-way between the needy oddness of Maria Bamford and the upbeat affability of Josie Long. Her material is a mix of silliness, filth and unusual observations.

Completing the lineup this Friday is Paul F Taylor, whose unique brand of humour fuses quirky offbeat one-liners with surreal observational flights of fancy. Nominated as NATY New Act of the Year for 2013 and GQ magazine’s comedian of the week, Paul’s persona of a lost bewildered fool sits perfectly alongside his gleefully madcap ideas.
