Book now for Cambridge Music Festival spring series
Cambridge Music Festival has announced its spring 2023 concert series, which starts next week and for which tickets are now available.
The festival brings together music-lovers from Cambridgeshire and beyond to enjoy performances by a wide range of musicians in some of Cambridge’s most historic venues, such as Trinity College Chapel, St John’s College Chapel, and Fitzwilliam College Auditorium.
Festival director Justin Lee said: “We are thrilled to announce our spring 2023 concert series. In a city with so much music, Cambridge Music Festival stands apart for the exceptional quality and variety of artists and music featured.
“There is something for everyone this spring, whether it’s bold and unusual performances, like a concert featuring six pianos, or rare opportunities to hear international stars of the music world, like Royal Wedding cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason. We hope you will join us this spring.”
Highlights of the new series include the opening performance by young cellist and festival friend Sheku Kanneh-Mason, who shot to fame in 2016 when he won the BBC Young Musician competition and later performed at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He joins London Mozart Players for an evening of music by Mendelssohn and Bloch at West Road Concert Hall.
The festival also welcomes the world’s greatest viol player Jordi Savall and his instrumental trio for an exploration of Jewish, Christian and Arab-Andalusian musical traditions from around the Mediterranean.
Further highlights include a performance by the Brodsky Quartet, who celebrate their 50th anniversary this season. Later, audiences can enjoy the unmatched vocal purity of The Tallis Scholars in the glorious acoustic of St John’s College Chapel.
