Cambridge author Anita Lehmann holds book launch for ‘Divine Dicks and Mortal Pricks: Greek Myths for Feminists’

Cambridge author Anita Lehmann held a special Greek-themed launch event for her latest book, Divine Dicks and Mortal Pricks: Greek Myths for Feminists, last Friday (29 November) at a house in Greville Road, Cambridge.

The author of numerous books, Anita - who writes under the pseudonym of Walburga Appleseed - was born in Bern, Switzerland and first moved to Cambridge in 2005.

She said that the launch “went really well”, adding: “I haven’t had a proper launch party for any of my books, because most of them came out during lockdown or shortly after.

“This is my 10th book - with two more to come in the next few months. So it was high time for a celebration.

“About 60 people came to the event, mostly friends and neighbours, but also members of the Cambridge branch of the Society of Authors and other local groups.

“Everyone chatted to everyone, and new friendships were made.

“We got Greek wine and Mediterranean food from the Box Café and I organised the evening so that it wouldn't just be me reading, but to include other local authors such as Harriet Truscott and Inbali Iserles, as well as Giulietta Spudich, Letizia Diamante, Vinna Law, and Holly Curtis.”

Her work - both for children and adults - has been short and long-listed for various competitions over the years, including the Bridport Prize (shortlist 2020) and Fish Flash Fiction (2014, 2016) competitions.
