Cambridge author John Harvey’s first five novels reissued
Cambridge author John Harvey’s first five novels have been reissued, and are on sale at Heffers.
His stories tackle everything from the asset-stripping that has devastated working communities to torture and resistance, to a military dictatorship.
In the words of novelist AS Byatt, his prose is poetic and incisive, while poet and critic the late Anthony Thwaite described John’s work as “Tolstoyan”.
John, a life fellow at Emmanuel College, where he previously directed English studies, said: “I’m quite pleased because I haven’t been able to be a full-time novelist because I’ve been teaching, so I take a certain time with my novels. It’s nice to see them all together.”
John is currently working on a sixth novel, which he hopes to have ready by around Christmas time. Holland House Books has republished all of John’s previous novels both in print and digitally.
