Cambridge folk-rockers Blue Alatar release new EP ‘Kicking & Screaming’
Kicking & Screaming is the new three-track EP from independent Cambridge folk-rock group Blue Alatar.
A variety of players are featured across the three tracks. Consistently the band comprises Liam Taylor (songwriting, guitars, bass guitar, bouzouki, mandolin and keys), Si Pettit (vocals and baritone guitars) and Harri Beasley (drums).
Additional members include Pitz Quattrone (didgeridoo/yidaki on Kicking & Screaming) and Ellie Winter (hammered dulcimer on No Thanks to You).
The band’s influences include folk bands such as Levellers, Planxty, and Billy Bragg and rock bands such as New Model Army, Blur, and Black Sabbath.
Band leader Liam Taylor said: “This is the first time I’ve written lyrics for Blue Alatar. I wanted to make an impact and really let people know what we’re about.
“We’re not the only ones angry at the state of the world. I think we’ve created something that will really resonate with people.
“Kicking & Screaming is a ‘love letter’ to boomers – I don’t think the older generations realise how responsible they are for the state of the world.
“Look You in the Eyes is about standing up to bullies – particularly those divisive folks currently in control of our country.
“No Thanks to You is a message of hope – overcoming toxic situations and living life on your own terms.”
Kicking & Screaming went live to all major digital music platforms yesterday (Tuesday, July 2). For more, visit facebook.com/BlueAlatarMusic/.
