Carey Marx to headline next Big Deal Comedy night at Cambridge’s Town and Gown
Popular stand-up Carey Marx is to headline the next Big Deal Comedy night in Cambridge.
The writer and star of BBC Radio 4’s Intensive Carey, which tells the story of how he had a heart attack and his slow recovery thereafter, is a two-time winner of Best International Show at the New Zealand Comedy Festival, and is a Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show nominee.
His previous shows have been described as, among other things, “quite brutal, in a darkly comic Quentin Tarantino kind of way” (Chortle) and “supremely-crafted comedy” by List.
Appearing alongside Marx will be Tom Alban and Garrie Grubb.
In other news, Big Deal Comedy’s fortnightly shows at Town and Gown are to go weekly starting in September.
Leanne Clarke, who runs Big Deal Comedy with her brother, stand-up comedian Jason Stampe, said: “Cambridge has a great history of live comedy and we are so excited to be a part of it with our weekly show!”
See Marx, Alban, and Grubb this Friday (9 August) at Town and Gown. Tickets, priced £16 (plus booking fee), are available from bigdealcomedy.co.uk.
