With over 800 computers in their archives, and many consoles and arcade machines to play, older gamers can reminisce in the games of their youth, with Sonic, Pacman and Pong among the least obscure.

It’s a great flashback that kids will love too, and with a virtual reality headset there’s also a glimpse into the future. The Centre for Computing History is a treasure trove of technological wonders that present a comprehensive history of the digital revolution that has changed the modern world.

As well as games consoles there are computers, gadgets and gizmos on display. There’s also a gift shop and cafe, and guided tours available for larger groups.

The centre is just behind the Beehive shopping centre, so you can drop the kids off, big and small, and pop around the corner for some retail therapy if circuits and wires aren’t your thing.
