Dame Mary Archer to open Presents Galore Christmas fair at Newmarket Racecourse
The Presents Galore committee has announced that Dame Mary Archer will be cutting this year’s ribbon to mark the official opening of East Anglia’s biggest Christmas fair.
Leading the opening ceremony of the three-day event this Friday (November 25), Dame Mary will join crowds for the return of the popular event, held at the the Rowley Mile Racecourse in Newmarket.
The fair, which has been running for more than 35 years, returns once again, bringing with it a host of new exhibitors, local trades and independent boutiques.
Presents Galore has chosen Cambridge Children’s Hospital and the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket as its beneficiaries for 2022.
Dame Mary said: “I am extremely privileged to be opening Presents Galore this year at the Rowley Mile Racecourse in Newmarket. The event has always been a great highlight of the festive calendar and raises much-needed funds for local charities.
“As co-chair of the Cambridge Children’s Hospital Campaign board, I am beyond thrilled that the event will contribute towards our ambition of £100million in philanthropic support, as well as providing much-needed support to the National Horseracing Museum.
“Cambridge Children’s Hospital will be the first hospital in the world to integrate mental and physical healthcare and will have a life-changing impact on millions of children regionally, nationally and globally.
“I hope you will all join us across the threeday event, enjoying the festivities and contributing to the wonderful causes highlighted this year.”
Taking place between November 25 and 27, the fair will welcome more than 100 stalls with something for everyone. Discover interiors, clothing and footwear, jewellery and accessories, food and drinks stalls, outdoor living, and gifts for children, including toys, clothes and accessories.
Festive stalls will also be offering hot foods, mulled wine, alongside live performances from musicians throughout the weekend. Shoppers can enjoy the Christmas fair for just £8 when purchasing online, while Blue Light badge-holders are able to purchase a ticket for £6 (ID is required at the door).
Under-16s get in free with an accompanying adult and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the two local causes, including 100 per cent of all ticket sales.
