Dutch garage band Real Farmer coming soon to Cambridge as part of ‘Triple Dutch Tour’
Three Dutch bands are on their way to Cambridge to perform in one show as part of the ‘Triple Dutch Tour’ and among them is Real Farmer, a garage band from Groningen in the northern Netherlands, one of the youngest cities in Europe.
The band released a new single, The Straightest Line, on 10 January. The track is the second single, along with Inner City, to be lifted from Real Farmer’s debut album, Compare What’s There, which is due out on 8 March.
As active members of their city’s local music scene with their infectious punk noise, Real Farmer’s debut album finds guitarist/vocalist Peter van der Ploeg, bassist/vocalist Marrit Meinema, singer Jeroen Klootsema and drummer Leon Harms knocking out fast-paced, driving songs with propelling drums and winding melodies.
Of their latest single, The Straightest Line, the band say: “It’s about walking the straightest line, which means to lead a clean life: to work out, eat healthy, stay away from drugs and alcohol.
“Often this way of living is seen as the one size fits all solution to any type of mental struggle, yet its rigidity can become a very debilitating and alienating thing.”
The Triple Dutch Tour will see the group share the stage with fellow Dutch up-and-comers Personal Trainer, which includes members of Real Farmer, and The Klittens, a five-piece ‘indie-noir’ band from Amsterdam and The Hague.
Catch the tour at the Cambridge Junction (J2) on Wednesday, 31 January. Tickets, priced £18, are available from junction.co.uk. For more on Real Farmer, go to facebook.com/realfarmer050/.
