Ed Gamble to perform at Cambridge Junction this weekend
The popular comedian, one of the regular stars of Mock the Week, is on his biggest nationwide tour to date with his show, Mammoth.
After selling out his entire run at the Edinburgh Fringe – including extra shows added every weekend – the 31-year-old began the tour at the Norwich Playhouse on September 21. He will be appearing at The Junction on Sunday (October 22).
As well as starring on Mock the Week, Ed’s also a writer on Greg Davies’ Channel 4 series Man Down and has popped up on, among other things, Russell Howard’s Good News, Drunk History, and Virtually Famous.
He’s also been making a name for himself internationally, starring in two series of BBC America’s flagship comedy show Almost Royal and performing on shows like Conan – one of the very few British comics to do so.
Ed told the Cambridge Independent: “The tour has been a lot of fun so far. It feels like a real step-up from last year’s tour – there are lots of people coming out specifically to see me, which is great.”
He continued: “The show is an extended version of my Edinburgh Fringe show from this year, and the sort of things I’ll be idly wittering about, with hopeful jokes in, will be the London Marathon, which I ran this year.
“I talk about an awkward massage that I had after the London Marathon... The show itself is widely about how I see myself versus how other people see me – so it’s about coming to terms with the fact that I might not be the sort of person that I think I am in my head.
“I talk a lot about how I’m really into heavy metal and in my head I’m that kind of guy – a rocker-type guy – but obviously the way other people see me is somewhat more of a straight-laced proposition than that.”
Ed Gamble will be at J2 at The Junction on Sunday, October 22 at 8pm.
Tickets: £15.50
