Fatiha El-Ghorri to perform at Cambridge Comedy Garden 2025

Actress, writer and comedian Fatiha El-Ghorri is a London-based comedian of Moroccan and British heritage who uses “comedy to break down the barriers that she has come up against as a Muslim and as a woman” (Arab News).

Fatiha, who made her television debut appearing on Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club in 2020, is set to perform at this summer’s Cambridge Comedy Garden on Parker’s Piece – a four-day comedy extravaganza featuring some of the biggest names in stand-up, including Frankie Boyle, Russell Kane, Fern Brady, Alan Davies, and Seann Walsh.

We put some questions to her:

Hi Fatiha, how are you? What have you been up to recently, professionally speaking?

I am doing very well thank you! OMG so much! I am in the current series of Taskmaster, I am a team leader in [new gameshow] Silence Is Golden, and I am the head judge for the New BBC Comedy Awards for 2025! Busy bee!

You’re scheduled to perform at Cambridge Comedy Garden in July. What can audiences expect from your show? Will it mainly be bits from your most recent tour show, or will it be a sort of ‘greatest hits’?

I ain’t telling you! You’ll just have to come and find out innit!

Which of the other acts performing at the event are you looking forward to seeing? Who else do you enjoy watching on the current comedy circuit?

All of them! I haven’t seen them in a while so I am looking forward to seeing them at the event and catching up.

On the circuit, I get excited about seeing new acts that I’ve never seen before – it reminds me of when I first started out in comedy.

Have you performed at any of these large summer comedy festivals before? If so, what do you like about doing them?

Yes I have and my fave thing about doing these events is the food! But for real, I like that there are lots of different comedians performing so there is something for everyone.

How did you first get started in stand-up? What are your standout memories of that time?

I’ve been doing comedy for about 10 years now and I started after my second divorce. Some of my standout memories are doing stand-up to a dog. It was a mastiff and I was scared!

Oh, once I did a gig and Clare Balding was in the audience and I lost my mind. I was in the back screaming “CLARE BALDING!” while all the other acts were telling me to shut up!

Which comics did you particularly enjoy growing up? Who were your biggest influences in comedy?

Growing up, the comics I enjoyed the most were French and Saunders and Jack Dee.

Now, as a comedian myself, I don’t really get a chance to watch comedy, only when I am at gigs so I don’t really have any influences as such.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a comedian?

I’d be working with underprivileged kids or for some sort of charity. I’d want to do something that helps the world and the people in it.

What do you make of the current comedy scene in the UK?

It’s very good. You can watch comedy any day of the week and we have a lot of talent. Honestly, the audiences are spoilt for choice.

What are your plans for the rest of the year? Any more TV in the pipeline?

You’ll have to wait and see innit!

What was it like doing Taskmaster?

OMG it was great! I loved the people I was doing it with. We all got on so well and we will be friends for life.

Alex [Horne] and Greg [Davies] are great and everyone in front of the camera and behind the camera were amazing.

It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done and seeing it on TV makes me a bit sad because I miss the whole experience so much.

Cambridge Comedy Garden runs from Thursday, 17 July, to Sunday, 20 July, at various times throughout each day.

Fatiha El-Ghorri is scheduled to appear on the Sunday, at 4pm, alongside Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Josh Pugh, Thor Stenhaug, and headliner Frankie Boyle.

Tickets, priced £27.50, are available online from cambridgecomedygarden.co.uk.
