Homerton College in Cambridge hosts handmade Christmas fair
An early Christmas fair selling unique handmade gifts - including ceramics, homeware, knitwear and jewellery - in support of Cambridge charity CAMFED is taking place at Homerton College on Friday (November 8).
The Curated By Hand Christmas fair will feature gifts from independent Cambridge artisans as well as showcasing products made by CAMFED graduates.
CAMFED is the Campaign for female Education, which was founded simultaneously in Cambridge and Zimbabwe, with all African operations completely African-led.
The campaign tackles poverty, inequality and injustice through girls’ education and women’s leadership.
A spokesperson for the charity said; “This event will raise funds for CAMFED and highlight micro businesses run by young women entrepreneurs in Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It’s a wonderful chance to discover exclusive products while helping creative talents from rural Africa.”
The fair will be held in the Great Hall at Homerton College from 9am to 6pm, supporting independent designers and creators, including businesses run by the charity’s graduates in the CAMFED Association, who will be represented by Fiona Mavhinga.
There will be a chance to buy original gifts from stalls featuring bespoke stationery, home interiors, textiles, jewellery, knitwear, leather accessories, and basketry.
