In pictures: Cambourne hosts Onam harvest festival
The 12th annual Onam harvest festival – the largest in the East of England – took place at the The Hub in Cambourne on Saturday (September 9).
The event was organised by Cambourne Indian Club. Vivish George, one of the main organisers, said: “It was a great event – almost 170 people attended, from different parts of the UK, especially from the East of England.”
Onam is a festival celebrated by the Keralite community in India, and it holds immense cultural and traditional significance for them.
The event is marked by elaborate feasts, cultural performances, and the decoration of intricate flower carpets called ‘pookalam’.
