In pictures: Christmas at Wimpole is a spectacular sight

The Wimpole Estate’s new after-dark Christmas illuminations trail is already getting rave reviews.

The trail brings the National Trust estate to life with more than a million twinkling lights and seasonal sounds.

Designed by Culture Creative and produced in partnership with Sony Music, it features neon trees, larger-than-life flowers and an amazing two colour pea-lit tree.

Visitors can walk through long glowing tunnels and enjoy light displays in all the colours of the rainbow.

Experience and visitor programming manager Hilary Wilson said: “We’re really excited about this year’s trail; it includes firm favourites like the cathedral of light and neon tree along with some brand-new, stunning installations.

“After the first weekend, we’ve already received some wonderful feedback about the coloured laser garden, hot air balloons and winter flower display of lights too.

“We have lots of great food trucks serving up a wide range of festive treats and the toasted marshmallow station is proving to be a big hit.”

During the day, Wimpole Hall is also decorated for the festive period, with seasonal food and drink in the restaurant and cafés, and local choirs singing Christmas carols.
