In pictures: Fulbourn pupils’ postcards displayed alongside celebrities’ artwork
Fulbourn Primary School’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) has been running a Secret Postcards project over the past couple of months and the results are now on display.
The school held its public launch on Wednesday, March 29, and will have another main exhibition evening which the general public are invited to attend on Thursday, April 20, from 6-8pm.
More than 400 postcards have been created by members of the school community, artists, well-known children’s authors and illustrators, and celebrities.
The school has had contributions from Dame Emma Thompson, Rob Brydon, Julia Donaldson, Sue Hendra, Adam Stower, and South East Cambridgeshire MP and culture secretary Lucy Frazer, among others.
The artist behind each postcard won’t be revealed until the end of April, hence the title ‘Secret Postcards’. The postcards, which are currently on display in the school’s community art gallery, are also being auctioned online until April 29 at bit.ly/3o5HwTG.
Sarah Davies, PTFA secretary, said: “It has been a very positive and inclusive project with fantastic community support. The children’s artwork is displayed alongside that of professional artists and household names, on an equal footing, which is very exciting for them.”
At the exhibitions, people are able to vote for their favourite postcard, as well as trying to guess which well-known figures created which postcards, and predict which will make the most money at auction.

The proceeds from the sale of the postcards will go towards the PTFA’s current projects to support the school.
