Waterbeach villagers have put on a show of festive spirit by creating their own Advent calendar of window displays.
Residents have joined in – decorate a street-facing window in their house according to one of the days of Advent – creating a Christmassy trail throughout the village.
There is even a Waterbeach Advent Windows trail map posted on Facebook so anyone can wander around the village spotting all the festive sights.
Waterbeach resident Jude Sutton, who helped to organise the trail, said: “This is the second year we’ve had the trail.
“The first one happened at the tail end of lockdown when Jane Williams and I organised it because we really needed it then to give everyone a boost. Last year it gave some families who decided to print off the trail map a chance to have a walk around the village but with a purpose.
“This year the take up of people decorating their windows has been brilliant, and it has been easy to get 25 people to cover the 25 days – in fact we have more than that with some dates doubled up. The idea is just to spread a bit of festive joy around the village.”
The first 12 windows are decorated as the 12 days of Christmas - including maids milking, swans swimming and five gold rings, and the rest have festive scenes including Father Christmas in a chimney, Christmas trees and snowmen,
Jude said: “We told people to get creative, maybe even cryptic and spread the festive magic. People have outdone themselves this time and the windows look wonderful.”
